I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), and earned my master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Whitworth University. My passion is to bring healing to couples and families: I believe that stable marriages and healthy families create a vibrant society. I entered into this profession later in life: prior to counseling, I was a teacher (middle school English), short-term missionary (Cairo, Egypt), freelance writer, stay-at-home mom (four children), and business owner. I have been married to the same man for over 35 years and am grateful for the life experiences that have shaped who I am today.

My faith in Jesus Christ impacts both my personal and professional life. The hope I have in Christ gives me confidence in the power of growth, change, and transformation. I believe that people do not have to stay stuck in pain, bad habits, or dysfunction. I have worked with individuals, couples, and families dealing with a variety of issues, including: depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, self-esteem, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), sexual trauma, work-life balance, abuse, addiction, chronic pain, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), communication, infidelity, parenting, and life transitions. In addition, I have extensive experience counseling pre-married couples.

Theory of Practice

As a marriage and family therapist, I view therapy through a systemic lens; I observe individuals, couples, and families within context. I believe individuals cannot be fully understood without recognizing their relationships to God, self, and others, as well as to their environment. I believe that each person has value and purpose, and that a strong family system made up of growing individuals creates a healthy society.
